We are But Visitors Here

Our Big Adventure in Alaska Plate

A subset of the pictures from the trip. As always, clicking on the picture will open a larger image.

These pictures cover the last stage of the trip. We flew from Anchorage to Juneau and stayed there overnight. Early the next morning, we boarded the ferry for a trip down through the inner passage, passing British Columbia and on to Bellingham, Washington.

The first stop was in Sitka. The stop over lasted about three hours, giving us time to go to downtown Sitka and tour the Sitka National Historic Park.

The ferry made two more stops, but one was at night and the other quite early in the morning. Neither was long enough to do anything anyway.

The next ferry stop was Ketchikan. Once again we had time to disembark and look around town.

During the trip we saw humpback whales, porpoises, eagles and, finally, as dusk was arriving while passing Vancouver Island, a pod of Orcas swam by.
